Why should I use GoodMinutes Meeting Manager? Why is this software better than what I am doing now? Give me an example of how I would use the software.
Setup your meeting
… in less than 5 minutes. This includes setting up details like time, place, location, agenda items, estimated duration of meeting, delegation of responsibilites for the agenda items, talking points for each agenda item.
… then you can instantly email the meeting details, including an Outlook compatible appointment and Meeting Agenda (as a PDF) to your group.
At the meeting
… you will use the software to actually log attendance and take the minutes, create action items, make and vote on motions, and attach meeting-related documents using an intuitive interface. Select the meeting agenda items from a tree-view navigation control. Take your minutes in a microsoft-word like editing screen that allows you to apply rich formatting to your minutes (bold, italics, bulleted lists, etc). Create action items and assign them to meeting participants (or other groups in your organization) quickly and easily. Make a motion and log the discussion and the vote tally.
After the meeting
… send your raw meeting minutes to participants at the moment the meeting ends or later. Then each meeting participants gets a personal email that lists their open action items from this and all previous meetings. Edit and polish the meeting minutes after the meeting and send out a final copy for review. (Once the minutes are voted on and approved then they are locked and cannot be edited any longer.) Update and annotate any open action or agenda items based on feedback from your group.
…analyze your organizations meeting “metrics”. Who has missed the most meetings? Who is chronically late? How long have your action items been open? Who has the most uncompleted action items? Who does the most talking at your meetings?
…see the data in a variety of ways. So, in addition to straight meeting minutes, see a report on all of the discussion about a certain Agenda Item even if it has been discussed for months or even years. See a list of motions by date range and how the votes came in. Or see a list of all of the documents your meetings have needed.
And other features…
What kinds of organizations should consider using GoodMinutes Meeting Manager?
The software is not really “enterprise-ready”. It won’t integrate with a business exchange server or active directory or other enterprise applications. But it IS appropriate for small businesses with well-defined groups who meet regularly. For example, a weekly staff meeting.

What are the System Requirements for the GoodMinutes Meeting Manager?
… Microsoft Windows operating system.
… Also, the system must have the .NET 2.0 Framework installed. Most windows systems already have the .NET 2.0 Framework. An easy way to find out is if your system has it is to try to run the software (or the installer for the software) and your computer will tell you if the framework is missing.
…As long as these two conditions are met then the software can run directly off of a USB Flash Memory stick. That way the software can be run off of any computer without installing. The data is kept on the Memory stick but is also backed up to the local system as long as you properly shutdown the software after use (in case you lose the memory stick or it becomes corrupt).
…if you REALLY want to run the software on your Mac…well you can IF you run Windows on your Mac. (Sorry…not getting around that Windows requirement…at least for right now.) There are two well known way to do run Windows on your Mac. One is to setup your Mac to “dual boot” to Windows. Or, even better, you can run Windows virtualization software, like VMWare Fusion or Parallels, on your Mac. Both of these solutions still require that you purchase a valid license for the Windows operating system.
When will the software be available?
